Neglecting Women at Work

Women have taken every step that men have. The legislation of equality for women has not helped in bringing equality to women in many places where inequality against women is practiced openly. At work is where the inequality against work can be seen in the amount paid for the work done equally as men.

The law that states that there should be no inequality at the place of work since 40 years I openly violated in multiple organizations. Not just small organizations, even huge organizations do the same crime of behaving differently against the needs of a woman. A rough estimate of a few organizations gives the estimate that women are paid only 75 percent of what men are paid for the same amount of work. This translates into a loss of $455,000 in an ordinary day’s work. This leads to problems such as women struggling to accumulate assets to plan for retirement. The superannuation income at the end of her service will be only half that of a man. This inequality towards women has an indirect effect on the women’s family who have to settle for less. They are unable to contribute more towards their families. This is not just related to monthly pay, even the hikes are lesser than that of men. The top board members of major corporations are all filled with men who have rejected and dejected women throughout their career. The patriarchical culture that has biases against women and their inability to work on par with men is one of the biggest causes of this inequality. A women working at office will also have home work where she has to handle the children and husband before and after work. This translates into 400 percent more work done by women than a man in just one day. No man can match this in hard work.
