How To Promote Gender Equity In Education

How to promote gender equity in education is an issue throughout the world, with many undeveloped countries still having high percentages of girls and women who have no education at all. This creates an empire of men-only run corporations all over the world. When running businesses like marketing, auto insurance companies, and other retail markets a woman’s touch can appeal to a whole new demographic and help the company grow.

To promote gender equity in education is a worldwide issue, as although the numbers of women University graduates in USA and other developed countries is increasing to beyond the men, in many cases in the third world and in developing countries there is still a wide margin with the highest proportion of uneducated people being women.

Speaking Up for Women

At the opening of the 54th Commission on the Status of Women, Asha-Rose Migiro, the Deputy Secretary-General brought the matter of action on gender equality to the delegates at the UN Headquarters with the following statement,

“More and more people now understand that gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls is not just a goal in itself, but a key to sustainable development, economic growth, and peace and security”.

So what is the best way how to promote gender equity in education? Well basically, the worldwide policy is to promote the idea of gender equity in education as much as possible, citing the importance to the development of each country, as well as to the individuals concerned. Many Arab countries have massive cultural differences to the western world, and the role of women in their societies remains largely unchanged for generations. This includes the role of women in the home, and the hierarchy of the males in their societies.

In the developed world, although education is available for all, there are still some gender topical issues which need to be addressed in order for women to truly have the same opportunities to excel as men.
